A letter from Zukiswa Ngulube
Zukiswa is embarking on her final year of IT studies
at the Central University of Technology in Bloemfontein. She wrote this
note to Independence ZA last year.
“My first semester in 2008 was great but
at first I struggled. I knew no one and had no friends. Sometimes I
wanted to cry as I was not used to being on my own. When time went
along I found some friends who were doing IT. I struggled with the
course in the beginning as I had not known computers before.
But that was in the beginning. I have
passed my first year and now am in second year. Some of the subjects
are still tough but I know who to ask for help and it gets easier with
time. I am enjoying myself this year.
I am staying with my friend Motshidisi in
a flat and going to university every day. I am enjoying it and feeling
at home because some of my Philippolis friends are now here too.
I really want to thank you for what you
are doing for me. Without you we would be sitting doing nothing and
wasting the dreams we have been dreaming. You made my first step to my
dream come true and I really appreciate it. I feel that everything is
possible.”
